Finally, Some Accountability

Well, it's about time that somebody lost their job for cheating:

And the guy who recommended him (that being Obama) actually acknowledged his error, instead of trying to save face and pretend he made the right call in the first place. I only wish the other large tax cheat in the Cabinet got sent packing, too.

There's a bunch of things we're going to have to do to get out of this economic (formerly financial) crisis. Most of them are going to cost obscene amounts of money. But, there are a few steps that mainly just take the courage to do the right thing, instead of the easy thing. Things like punishing the guilty, and taking a stand against corruption, and incompetence.

The economy is massively based on confidence. This is a huge flaw, as I've written about before. Nevertheless, that's how it is, and if we're going to right the ship, we need to convince people that our leaders (government and private sector) aren't corrupt. That's a hard argument to make right now, but we have to start somewhere. This move is a good start.
