Steve Nash is Awesome

Steve Nash is a God. Well, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement. He's a God who doesn't play any defense. Yeah. That's about right.

Here is a story about Steve leading the charge to make the NBA more environmentally conscious. That's fantastic. And ballsy. C'mon, coming out in support of green causes is probably about as well-received in an NBA locker room as, well .... "coming out"! The NBA is populated by poster-children for gross overconsumption. The bling. The fancy cars. The flying around on private jets.

My guess is that Steve's carbon footprint is probably still higher than most folks, but I consider something like this to be a real positive step. People standing up to say, "you know what, it really wouldn't be a bad idea for everyone to consume a little less to help with this problem".

Nash was also one of the few professional athletes to vocally challenge our supreme blunder that is Iraq. That makes Steve 2-2 on a couple of free throws, in my opinion.

People in our society have just become too complacent, and too complicit with the ridiculous system we live in. Nobody wants to rock the particular boat that they're in, so long as the boat isn't completely filled-up with seawater. I'm glad there are a few people like Steve Nash who break that trend.

Now, if he could just learn to fight through a high screen :)
